Welcome to my Social Traders blog.
I live in Cornwall, UK and am passionate about social enterprise and collaborating with social entrepreneurs. In 2010 I founded Social Traders CIC as a social enterprise promoting trade for social purpose. As a consultant and accredited SFEDI business adviser specializing in social enterprise I draw on more than 25 years experience having managed several social enterprises, brokered professional guidance for scores of others and provided a wide range of advice and mentoring. My aim is to promote innovation, creativity and business acumen through networking, workshops and to create links with social entrepreneurs across the globe. Connect with me through LinkedIn.
Having spent many years working with social enterprises in Northern Ireland and engaging with social economy projects in the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, France, Austria and Holland I have gained a broad appreciation of both the social issues that drive organisations forward and the necessary business acumen that creates and sustains momentum. Above all I recognise the immense contributions of those who lead, manage and envision such initiatives as social traders!
As a CIPD qualified trainer for more than ten years I also continue to design and facilitate a range of practical workshops and training sessions covering many aspects of establishing, managing and marketing social enterprises. The latest offer is the Social Media for Civil Society one-day programme.
In 2007 I published in partnership with Cornwall Rural Community Council, a full colour guide “Social Enterprise in Cornwall” written by Steve Angove with twelve local case studies. The guide is available for viewing or download from: http://www.cornwallrcc.co.uk/
